Top 5 most deadly sharks for human beings!
81Sharks don't usually attack humans. We are not their natural prey. We get attacked because we resemble some of their prey and the shark makes a mistake in murky waters. For example we look a lot like a seal swimming in water and seals provide sharks with the blubber (fat) so 90% of the shark attacks are just mistakes made by sharks. Very few sharks have attacked humans and only one or two are man-eaters. In this list i have rated sharks based on their aggressiveness and attacks on humans. You can participate in the poll too given in the end. Thank you
5. Shortfin Mako
The short-fin Mako is the fastest shark in the waters. It's speed is equivalent to that of a 'cheetah' on land. It has to be fast as it's prey the 'tuna' is also very fast. Both prey and predator share the same body features which make them fast.
Short-finned Makos are found world-wide in temperate and tropical seas. Makos range from the surface to relatively deep waters. They are pelagic oceanic swimmers, but are occasionally found inshore. In warm, tropical oceans, they swim deep below the surface as they prefer cool water
Mako sharks have attacked humans. Very few were killed more due to loss of blood or failure to get medical help quickly. Those that were attacked were divers and shark feeders. Mako's don't swim near the beaches so swimmers and surfers are relatively safe from this shark.
4. Oceanic white tip shark
The oceanic whitetip shark
is a stocky and heavy set animal and feeds on tuna, marlins and baracuda. They can however eat anything edible.
This shark is found far from the shore so pose no threat to surfers and swimmers. This shark species is found in the oceanic waters of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. In the Atlantic it occurs from northeastern Georges Bank, south to the Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico to Argentina. The specimens found in and around Canadian waters are at the northern most point of their range.
This is an aggressive shark. Many shipwreck victim survivals have seen this shark attacking the fellow victims. This shark in reality may have attacked more humans than all sharks combined. Those who do get attacked are divers and shark feeders.
3. Tiger shark
Tiger sharks are named for the dark, vertical stripes found mainly on juveniles. As these sharks mature, the lines begin to fade and almost disappear.
They are the scavangers of the oceans and will eat almost anything even metal. This pose them as a threat to humans. They have attacked humans and many tiger shark specimens have shown human remains in their stomachs. This shark is blamed for many human deaths as it sometimes swim near the shore in pursuit of the turtles.
Tiger sharks are common in tropical and sub-tropical waters throughout the world.
They have earned the reputation of being a 'man-eater'
2. Great white shark
Many people feel this is the most deadliest of all sharks perhaps the images of the film 'jaws' influence their reasoning but this is not true. Great whites are not mindless killing machines but a curious fish like the cat we have as a pet.
Most attacks by this shark are by mistake. A human swimming in the ocean appears like a seal, great white's main dinner so the shark is bound to attack. Experiments have also shown a great white releasing the victims after a single bite. This shark has no interest in our bones and muscles. It is the blubber on a seal which the shark wants.
However a single bite of this shark can be fatal as the victim can bleed to death. It's best not to be in the same waters with this shark. the most dangerous water where these sharks have known to attack humans are on the coasts of South Africa and Australia.
Found in cool, coastal waters throughout the world, there is no reliable data on the great white's population.
This shark also has been called a 'man-eater'
1. Bull shark
Bull sharks are the most dangerous of all sharks to human beings. They are the most aggressive of all sharks because of the high levels of testosterones in them. They have been known to attack humans and many scientists feel they are responsible for most of the deaths of human beings which are blamed on either tiger or great white shark.
They live near high population areas and can adapt even in fresh waters which make them doubly dangerous. This close proximity to humans and their aggressiveness make them the most dangerous shark for humans.
Bull sharks get their name from their short, blunt snout, as well as their pugnacious disposition and a tendency to head-butt their prey before attacking. They are medium-size sharks, with thick, stout bodies and long pectoral fins.
They are found cruising the shallow, warm waters of all the world’s oceans. Fast, agile predators, they will eat almost anything they see, including fish, dolphins, and even other sharks.
Like great whites this shark attacks humans out of curosity and has been named a 'man-eater'

What do you think of the practice of sending people down in cages and chumming the sharks? Is this connected, as some say, to the increase in shark attacks on humans? Are more sharks associating humans with food because of this practice?
i think sharks are very cool .sharks get a bad rap but they should not.
how about sandtiger shark
Note of irony. Great white & tiger sharks-besides frequency of attacks were tempting "no brainers" for the worst because of their superior size. I "guessed "about 20 ya that the bull shark would be the most on par as far as documented attacks on humans, but of the 3, I was inclined to view the bull shark the least exceptional-at least size wise. Not all victims witnesses, & recuers readily identify an attacking species. I guessed the bull shark on my own, because of shark attacks in fresh water, where bull sharks are the most prevailant, making attacks by them easier to document. Bulls appear to be the most generic looking among the 3, & there could be several species that look like them. It was surprising to learn that the bull shark had exceptional threatfactors for an apparently generic species. The other 4 are pretty distinctive looking
sharks are very interesting. Thanks for your informative article!
this page is realllly HELPFUL i neva knew this info u rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The shortfin mako's my favorite species. I wrote a short story about a mako shark from birth to death. I named her Foxbat in honor of the fastest combat plane in the world.
One of the catches to my story is challenging the notion that mako sharks are natures lottery winners because their speed enables them to eat more often. I assume-evidently correctly-that makos HAVE to eat more often due to a higher metabolism. I later read in wiki that a mako's metabolism is about 6 times that of a sandbar shark. The mako's bigger, & metabolism seems to be inversely proportional to size(since shrews seem to have the highest). If that's true, that woould make the sfm's metabolism even more incredible. It can eat more, but it has to eat more, so the wolf is not much farther from the mako's door. This made for an ironic delemna for the protagonist.
in my country there were no shark attack im curious do oceanic white tips live near maldives
i think the sheer size of the great white is terrifing, i have bad dreams and wet the bed sometimes, thinking about them.
do these sharks live in the philippines?
nice bull sharks are the most threat to a human i knew it would be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was quite informative and very well written. I have a question which I cannot seem to find an answer. I recently visited Italy and was captivated by the city of Venice what with its massive river and channels and was curious whether sharks frequented it or if they happen into it at all. Unfortunately its hard to use the Internet to find an answer to this question as there was a crappy B-Movie called Sharks in Venice that came out a couple years ago and when I try to Google this question all i get is reviews and comments regarding this movie maybe you could shine some light on this for me.
Hey, i got attacked by a shark last 3 years!!!:(
cool..bull sharks scare me.
if this was by attacks it would be 1.oceanic whitetip,2.great white,3.tiger,4.bull,5.shortfin mako
by the way i dove with sharks last summer. they didnt attack any diver!
and it was a free dive. nothing about a cage or something like this
Thanks for having explained the reasons for most shark attacks, and for your "defense" of the white shark.

Very good point Wendy, I think the shark may associate food with humans but not see humans as prey though. Mostly Only those smaller sharks are fed that have no threat to humans. Man-eaters should be best left alone. Thank you for your insight wendy, appreciate it :-)
